Pretty Cure Splash Star 13 + 14

More Splash Star goodness for your delectation - and at last, everyone's favourite villains have arrived! (Protip: I'm not talking about Dorodoron.)

I won't continue repeating this, so here's a quick note that the previous disclaimers about the translation and timing still apply and will do until further notice. It's all done by me and not checked over by anyone else, so apologies for any inaccuracies.

Pretty Cure Splash Star 10-12

Episode 10 is now well seeded, and I've just released 11. After some more indecision I decided to encode and release 12 as well, so that'll be available sometime tomorrow when 11 is (eventually) seeded. [EDIT: 11 seeded quicker than I expected so 12 is out already.]

As with the movie and episode 9, the translation for episode 12 has not been checked over by anyone but me (but it should be mostly fine). However, episodes 10 and 11 had the translation checked by HotondoNaNashi, for which I am of course very grateful.

From Monday I once again won't have regular internet access. It should be only temporary, but there obviously won't be any more releases straight away. Nonetheless, I figure I might as well give you a more specific update about the progress I've made with the next few episodes.

Episodes 13's translation is pretty much complete except for the (hypothetical at this point) translation check stage. For episodes 14-16 and 23 I've done a first pass translation, leaving gaps wherever I need to look words up (which isn't all that often, this being Pretty Cure) and not worrying too much about the final wording. 13-15 are also timed, although I still need to do some quick typesetting bits and pieces. I haven't started on 17-22 or 24+, but at least I have some more raws to work on thanks (very much!) to Jen.

And there you have it. Hopefully you can look forward to more Splash Star once I get internet access again. (Michiru and Kaoru are edging ever closer!) For now, get downloading =)

Pretty Cure Splash Star 9

After changing my mind about this multiple times, I've decided to release episode 9 without the script checked, since this allows me to release episodes 10 and 11 which have been checked. Nothing gave me much cause for concern in episode 9, but I'll provide the same disclaimer as the movie that the translation (and timing) might not be as accurate as in previous episodes.

Still, here's more subbed Splash Star at last. Expect episodes 10 and 11 tomorrow, señorita!

Pretty Cure Splash Star: The Movie

What's this? A release? Shocking I know!

Various factors are holding up further episodes of the series. If your Japanese is good and you're prepared to check over the translations, please say hi - but if I don't have internet access at the time you might not get a reply straight away. Also, I am in need of raws past episode 16 if you still have them and are prepared to somehow provide me with them.

(I'm not discounting my own laziness as a factor as well, of course.)

For now though, since all the stars aligned at once, I thought I'd get the movie done. I did it entirely on my own so apologies if the timing and translation aren't quite up to the usual standards, but on the whole I think it's reasonably good. Enjoy!

Pretty Cure Splash Star 5

This project may be stumbling along limply, but here's proof that it's not quite dead =P

Torrent here

Huge thanks as usual to HotondoNaNashi for checking and correcting the translation and Quarkboy for timing. More soon!

EDIT: I left it seeding overnight, and evidently I got disconnected at some point, before anyone actually managed to get a complete download. Sorry to everyone who's been trying to get it. It should be fine now.

Pretty Cure Splash Star 3

Here, at last, is episode 3. You can get it from the usual place, of course.

Extra big thanks to Quarkboy, who helped even more than usual with this episode's translation~

Pretty Cure Splash Star 2

Get it while it's hot!

Quarkboy volunteered to do the timing, and I also enlisted the help of HotondoNaNashi to check over the translation, so thanks to them this episode is both translated and timed more accurately. It won't make this show less of a rehash of the first Pretty Cure series, but it WILL clean your car and shine your boots!

Episode 3 airs tomorrow, but unfortunately I won't have time to work on it over the next week, so the chances of it being out before episode 4 airs are close to zero. On a similar note, I planned to write some translation notes for the first two episodes and put them on here today, but they'll have to wait because this has already taken up a lot more of my time today than I intended.

Pretty Cure Splash Star 1

Welcome to the blog-tacular website for Mystery Fan Translation Group X. I will eventually get round to sorting out a more interesting design that this, but for now I just present to you my first release: Pretty Cure Splash Star episode 1, available from the MFTGX torrent page. Marvel as they reboot the series with new characters who are just like the old ones, in a story just like the old story!

Some words of warning: Firstly, I make no guarantee about the accuracy of the translation. There are only a small handful of lines that I wasn't entirely sure about, but they exist nonetheless. I don't think you need to be too worried overall though; it's a fairly simple show.

Secondly, there is a good chance that I will not end up subbing the whole series, since I am very good at starting things and not finishing them. That said, at this point I certainly intend to do it all. I am more likely to keep going in the long-term if (a) I know that there are people interested in the series, and (b) if I find people to help out, specifically with timing.

On which note... Is there anyone reading this who is interested in doing the timing for this series? No experience is necessary provided you feel you can do a good job (I had no prior experience before doing episode 1 and I think it turned out okay), so please contact me if you're interested. It would be much appreciated! In theory I could use help with some other aspects as well (typesetting, encoding) but those aren't nearly so time-consuming, so I'm less bothered. Mainly it's just that the translation is the fun part, so if possible I want to concentrate on that.

It also occurs to me that it would be great if there was someone with better Japanese ability than me who would be willing to look over my translations. I figure that's a bit of a pipe dream though =)

That's all for now. Any and all comments about both the show and the fansub are much appreciated (provided any criticism is constructive)! You can either post a comment here or e-mail me at tuxedotrout@hotmail.com.
